In countries where the industry is strongly tied to natural resources, one of the characteristics elements is the heavy use of processes, such as different kinds of hardware and technological equipment. In order to get the best results, this equipment should have optimum performance. So, how can you optimize the use of the equipment so you can maximize what you get out of it? Chile-IT spoke with Adolfo Arata, General Manager of R-MES, and we asked him what is necessary for an IT company to be prepare to offer its services internationally. He explained that Chile is now a mature country for doing business, and that “the key is in really wanting to do it… what you need is an innovative product, that is appealing to the market and that provides economic benefits to your clients. You can achieve this by doing investigation and then taking the next step, which is innovation.”
Is it possible for Chilean IT companies to offer their services internationally? Adolfo Arata thinks that they just have to believe in themselves. “The big Chilean companies are in the same conditions as other international companies, there’s no big differences”. Besides, there are “high quality professionals in Chile that come from high quality universities. The engineering schools in Chile have always been very thorough when it comes to preparing intelligent and very capable professionals. These engineers have excellent results when they do their PhD’s in other countries, which shows how good the IT education system is in Chile".
What about the foreing companies? Is it convenient for them to do business with the Chilean IT companies? “There’s no doubt it, Chile can offer great opportunities for business to international companies… here you will find companies that do things in a very similar way to in your own country, but with special particularities that make us different and will make you want to choose us”.
